Transparency and process in safety-net hospitals.

Flow aims to foster organization-wide interest in complex systems-thinking concepts such as patient throughput and capacity management at hospitals that serve NYC’s under- and uninsured.

Beginning with the premise there exists a correlation between the active, voluntary engagement of front line staff, the safety and satisfaction of the patient, and the fiscal integrity of the institution, Flow addresses the challenges intrinsic to inner-city hospital-based healthcare settings where the work environment is particularly combative and dynamics between employee factions are especially toxic.

The project leverages no-cost push technology over existing smartphone infrastructure coupled with cooperative game mechanics to drive consensus and validated process redesign based on actionable data.
