Reality Altered

Oculus Rift + Microsoft Kinect mashup

Reality Altered is an exercise in procedural distortion of visual perception. The head mounted display -- a first generation Microsoft Kinect strapped to an Oculus Rift DK1 with 12 gauge aluminum baling wire -- captures both visual and depth information from the physical environment and renders a three dimensional representation in real time using openFrameworks.

The project was conceived and prototyped in collaboration with Jason Levine as part of the inaugural Art-A-Hack, a three-day art + tech jam, culminating in a 15-minute presentation of findings.
